Canon: BBC's Sherlock
Canon Point: Post- 2x03, The Reichenbach Fall
Age: Specifics unknown and kept extremely close to the chest, estimated early to mid-30s.
Description:
Irene Adler, as she appears in the Sherlock universe, is 5'3" (1.6 m) with dark brown hair that is mid length (just below her shoulders) and blue-grey eyes. Her weight is unknown, estimated to be about 125-130 lbs. She is surprisingly petite, with a smaller bust and wider hips. Irene dresses almost exclusively in modern, stylish business clothing or formal wear, and considers it extremely important to appear put-together and stylish at all times; it is part of her image.Physical changes:.
None specific that I can think of but I'm open to it!Powers:
No supernatural powers to speak of, but Irene is relatively clever for your average human. She has a reputation for scheming and manipulating, and she's also a skilled actress - which can make it extremely difficult to tell if she's telling the truth (which she would definitely consider a power). Oh, and she also knows her way around a riding crop (and other instruments of torture, pleasurable and otherwise).History:
One & Two.Hell Status:
Limbo case! What Brings Them To Hell:
Oops, dead even on the mystical scales of morality. The Pitch:
Irene is an odd one.Setting Fit:
Generally speaking, Irene Adler is not a Great Person.™ She lies. She manipulates. She ensures that situations go her way and work out to benefit her. She uses a position of power to leverage over her clients information that is beneficial to her. She puts her few friends in the crossfire without showing much remorse. She likes to misbehave and this often puts her in the less-than-legal and less-than-morally white territory.
That said, it's not entirely fair to say that she's a bad person either. She uses emotional blackmail most often to protect herself. She cares if those around her are hurt even if she doesn't tend to show it. Her main interest is self preservation, and due to her line of work (dominatrix for the rich and powerful), she can find herself in dangerous situations often. Irene puts herself in danger while trying to find 'insurance,' to protect against her powerful and rich clients. In fact, in her pursuit of insurance is what gets her in trouble in the first place - she stumbles on government secrets.
But I mean, on the upside, she gets to smack around and eventually outsmart Sherlock Holmes, so there is that.
After facing off with Sherlock Holmes and, more to the point, his brother Mycroft, she vanished after her insurance was turned over to the British Government. She resurfaced several months later in Karachi, Pakistan, in the hands of a terrorist group who most likely tortured her during her captivity and were going to behead her. Only timely arrival by Sherlock saved her life, and gave her a new lease on life.
Unfortunately, this isn't a story of a bad girl gone good - Irene did not give up on her less-than-legal practices after Karachi. But she did exercise a good deal more care, and it is likely that in the latter years of her life that she performed some of the acts that would have tipped her scale the opposite way; giving to charity, kissing babies, rescuing orphans, all that boring nonsense.
One of Irene's talents is being able to find a place anywhere; which of course, makes her a prime candidate to sink right into Little Hades. After all, helter-skelter is certainly her kind of pace, though she could do without the humidity (it ruins a perfectly coiffed hair-style). Naturally she'll hit the ground running with trying to collect insurance of her own in Hell (can you imagine the blackmail to be had?!), possibly becoming one of the prowlers of the Drag and taking advantage of the booming sex industry in the underworld. She caters to a certain kind of consumer and Hell is full of her clientele.
She'll also probably talk to that loser, Sherlock Holmes. And possibly John Watson though part of her is shocked that he's even here (taking the following Sherlock around bit a little bit too literally, probably). Mostly, though, she'll do her own thing. After all, life is so much more boring with people who already know you, and much more fun with new people to exploit!
Since texting is usually her preferred method of communication (over face-to-face interaction), she'll be stalking the network to try and get a handle for things .. and she learns remarkably quickly. She'll also avail herself of any resources available; books, tourist pamphlets (do they have tourists in Hell? don't they come from Hell itself?), newspapers, anything she can get her hands on to learn the ropes and all the rules. After all, you need to know the rules to break them.
